BBB 2017

Brown Beauties Brunching - Montreal

Four Brown Girls (FBG) is a movement dedicated to redefine the modern day Black woman by not only challenging misrepresentations and stereotypes of Black womanhood, but also by creating a strong community of women empowered through a network devoted to their every need. Since 2015, FBG has reunited thousands of women from different backgrounds to share, discuss and create bonds that only led to a stronger community.

On Sunday February 12th come join FBG as they host their signature Brown Beauties Brunching (BBB) event in Montréal. This year's brunch will feature a series of prominent Black women who will explore the reconciliation between culture, identity, and career from the black female perspective. It will be an inspirational exchange between women while enjoying brunch style canapés, signature cocktails, networking and an interactive discussion panel.

In addition to the brunch, FBG will host an interactive exhibition of Black owned businesses to compliment the network portion of the event. Professionals and entrepreneurs will collaborate to present Montreal's biggest gathering of Black talent. FBG envisions a variety of content ranging from beauty and professional services to fashion and food whereby companies selected to participate would be "FBG approved"

For me #blackgirlmagic is that unbreakable spirit we have inherited from our ancestors.
— Camille Dundas

How do you define #blackgirlmagic?

For me #blackgirlmagic is that unbreakable spirit we have inherited from our ancestors. It’s the fact that we continue to shine through our scars, continue to succeed and exceed with an envied air of grace and beauty. It’s magic because it’s elusive. It’s something everyone wants, but not everyone knows how to get.

What is your favorite quote?

"I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art. When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life. If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art." - Arsene Wenger

Who is your style icon and why?

Hands down Solange Knowles! She’s not here for your limitations and I love that. She takes risks, she loves herself and she’s down right bad ass.

What is your superpower?

I have an uncanny ability to determine whether someone will have a positive or negative impact on my life after meeting them just once. This is a superpower I somehow developed after turning 30 and having kids. It’s like I could suddenly see right to the core of people, past all the B-S. I don’t know how or why this superpower decided to kick in at that point in my life, but it has NEVER been wrong since, not even once.
